Overview

Racing Sim is a level design assignment I did at VFS. Main mechanics and spline editor tool provided before hand. Art assets imported from various projects and Unreal Marketplace.

Assignment was to give a race track that takes 75 seconds to finish with an additional mechanic, using provided assets.

Additional Mechanic

As the additional mechanic, game turned into a time attack. Players start with 15 seconds of life time and they need to collect green boxes in order to increase their time. Red boxes added into the game as hazardous objects which decreases player’s life time.

 

HOW TO MAKE IT BETTER

  • Even thou having color coding, short cuts are hard to see because of players focus zone. Track shape and environment can used more to support provide vision for the short-cuts.

  • Player vision could be improved via lowering fog intensity.

  • Downhill sectors could be smoothed for providing better traction.
