Visual Language
Color green used for optimal path of the track to give player better understanding of upcoming challenges. Color green also used for positive pickups.
Color red & substances used for non-playable area to built more concrete boundaries.Color red also used for negative pickups.
Color blue used for shortcuts with more unique pattern in order to make them shine out.
Color yellow used for near environment that helps with showing player elevation.
Usage of Particles
Particles used for giving better visual look for landmarks and to make level more alive.
Bald mountain from previous image came into life with fire and sparks to make it stand out as the main landmark which helps player to have better understanding of remaining track length.
Elevation & Geometry
Track elevation supported via tall cyber trees.
Rather than having an orthodox track style, unfinished semi-turns connected each other to achieve snake patterned movement, which works with character controller flawlessly.
2nd Shortcut
Shortcuts includes red boxes in order to make them more challenging. Taking a shortcut makes player skip a hairpin turn which gives 6 seconds extra to the player, but crashing into both red boxes costs 10 seconds, for that reason shortcuts are the risk for reward section of the level.
